The 10th of september I gave a presentation about security testing. This was at a seminar organised by Sogeti Nederland B.V. (the company we both work for). This event had the theme “Testing in the new world” and gave the audience a view of testing in the world of the future.

The tracks in the morning have some real new topics for software testing:

• • A presentation about Cloud Computing and how to use it for software testing
  • A combi presentation about testing augmented reality and crowdtesting (Ewald already posted his slides on this blog)
  • My presentation about application security.

My presentation was not that exciting as the first two topics, but had some new items for a lot of people.

Some of the main topics are:

• Security is not only a feature, it`s really important and needed for each application
• Testing application security gives a different view at the application, and creates a lot more opportunities to explore
• Security testing is needed from legislation and from the customer perspective, they trust you…
• Every self respecting tester must test security (at least some basic checks)
